Understanding why hair falls out is the first step to caring for it

An accurate medical diagnosis to understand why your hair is falling out and design the treatment that restores its density and strength.

What is trichology

Trichology is the branch of dermatology dedicated to diagnosing, treating and monitoring diseases of the hair and scalp.

Hair loss is one of the most common reasons for consultation and can have very different origins: androgenetic alopecia, telogen effluvium, alopecia areata, or various inflammatory and scarring scalp conditions. Although the symptom may look similar, each one has its own cause, course and treatment.

That’s why everything starts with an accurate diagnosis, able to identify the real cause of hair loss and point towards the best option for each person.

Our approach

The difference between slowing hair loss and resolving it lies in the diagnosis

At the first visit we carry out a detailed medical history, a complete scalp examination and trichoscopy with a dermatoscope, a key tool for guiding the diagnosis of most hair conditions.

When appropriate, we extend the work-up with tests such as blood analysis or a scalp biopsy, to confirm the diagnosis with confidence.

From there we design an individualised treatment plan, based on scientific evidence and adapted to the type of alopecia, its stage and your preferences. In many cases, combining different medical treatments gives better results than a single therapy on its own.

What we do

Treatments and technology

01
Diagnosis through trichoscopy
The key examination for guiding a hair diagnosis.
A non-invasive examination technique that looks at the hair and scalp with a dermatoscope, revealing, under high magnification, structures invisible to the naked eye. It provides very useful information for guiding the diagnosis of different types of alopecia and for assessing progress and response to treatment.
02
Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) for hair
A complementary regenerative therapy for selected cases.
A regenerative treatment obtained from your own blood. After centrifuging it, a platelet-rich fraction is obtained containing growth factors involved in tissue repair. It is used as a complementary treatment in selected patients with certain forms of alopecia, particularly androgenetic alopecia.
03
Mesotherapy with dutasteride
Micro-injections to stabilise hair loss in selected cases.
This involves infiltrating the medication through superficial micro-injections into the scalp. Available studies show promising results in stabilising hair loss and improving density, within a body of evidence that is still evolving.
How we work

What the process looks like

01
We understand your case.
We start with a detailed clinical interview to learn about how the hair loss has progressed, your personal and family history, any previous treatments and other factors that may play a role.
02
We examine and diagnose.
We examine the scalp and carry out trichoscopy, and when appropriate we request complementary tests such as blood work or a biopsy.
03
We design your plan.
Once the diagnosis is clear, we explain the alternatives, answer all your questions and create a personalised plan.
04
We follow up.
We assess progress and adjust the treatment when needed to optimise the results.

Answering your questions

Frequently asked questions

Is it normal to lose hair every day?
Yes. Losing between 50 and 100 hairs a day is part of the normal hair cycle. What matters is assessing whether that loss exceeds the follicle’s capacity to regenerate, or whether it comes with a progressive loss of density.
When will I start to notice results?
Hair growth is gradual. With most treatments, the first changes are usually noticeable after several months, at a pace that depends on the diagnosis and the treatment prescribed.
Do PRP or dutasteride mesotherapy cure alopecia?
In androgenetic alopecia, the goal of treatment is to halt or slow its progression, preserve existing hair and, in some people, improve density and thickness. Results vary depending on the type of alopecia, how far it has progressed and each person’s individual response.
Will I need maintenance treatment?
It depends on the diagnosis. Some forms of hair loss are temporary and resolve once the cause is treated; others, such as androgenetic alopecia, are chronic conditions that usually require long-term treatment and follow-up to maintain results.
Is everyone with hair loss a candidate for PRP or mesotherapy?
Suitability depends on the diagnosis, how far it has progressed, medical history and each person’s expectations. After the initial assessment, we recommend the treatments that can offer a real benefit in each case.
